HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN, MOVED BY PASSION OF ACHIEVING GENUINELY DELIGHTFUL USER EXPERIENCES  for ALL STAKEHOLDERS

Santosh Basapur

Santosh is enthusiastic about understanding complex systems, with myriad stakeholders, and their processes. Designing solutions with insights from primary and secondary research is his best skill. He is the Director of Design at Rush University. He is also Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College. He leads innovative projects at the Family Medicine department, Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center, Graduate College as well as Provost Office of Rush University.

Programs include new clinical care models for healthcare delivery as well as teaching design thinking and creative problem solving to Medical Students at the university through exclusive leadership development programs for select students.

Santosh practices and teaches Systems Design, Social Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Innovation, User Experience Design, and Human Factors to students of Medical College, Graduate College, Nursing College, and College of Health Sciences. He also teaches MDes students at IIT Institute of Design as an Adjunct Faculty.

Santosh is researching and designing new services for community-based primary care delivery as well as applying his design skills to the field of translation science (clinical trials and their processes). He also dabbles in systems such as smart buildings, automotive, and public spaces. Recent projects have been in UX research and design for Smart Cars and Smart Buildings. He is also working in Healthcare projects such as Design of Future ORs and applying Design Thinking to Clinical Trial methods. Previous projects include Media Experiences with Distributed Device Ecosystems, and Wellness Experiences for seniors. Santosh has published in international conferences like ACM's SIGCHI,  EuroiTV. ACM TVX, IASDR, etc.

Santosh has his own consulting firm UX Yantra. Previously, Santosh was a Principal Staff Research Scientist with Motorola Mobility/Google. His 10 years work at Motorola ranged from upfront generative user research to usability studies validating final product prototypes. He has 10+ issued patents with USPTO.

Corporate experiences have meant fast paced user research with methodologies creatively optimized for project needs, tight timelines and cost concerns. Teaching experience at IIT has meant more experimentation and co-discovery of what works and what does not in myriad application areas. Teaching has also enabled Santosh to talk about his unique approaches in Human Centered Systems Design and application to new exciting areas like Healthcare, Smart home, Intelligent Workspaces and User Centered Automated Transportation.

Santosh  loves photography, science experimentation with kids (teaches STEM initiatives), and design thinking projects with high schoolers.
